  • School Nurse of the Year 2024

On behalf of the executive board of the Delaware School Nurse Association, I would like to extend a well-deserved congratulations to our 2024 Delaware School Nurse of the Year, Donna O'Connor.

Donna is a school nurse at Richey Elementary School in the Red Clay Consolidated School District and has been selected from among many excellent candidates for this honor.

Donna exemplifies the extraordinary work school nurses do every day to help students stay healthy, safe and become successful in school and the community.  Donna has advocated tirelessly for the school nurses to have access to lead levels for children entering schools to assure they are able to achieve their highest potential in school and their future.  She has served on numerous committees for the lead advocacy coalition, collaborated with legislators and advocates for lead prevention and education, and led a strong voice for school nurses to have the ability to help our youth in this critical public health concern.

Donna will represent Delaware at the National School Nurses Association Annual Meeting and Conference in Chicago this June.

We again congratulate Donna in achieving this high honor.
